Part-time Contract Chef/Cook

  • Hours: 9:00 am-1:30 pm 
Starting Wage: $23.41 per hour plus 4% Vacation Pay  ​

If you are passionate about giving quality service, cooking nutritious dishes and enjoy children then join us at Westvale Child Care Centre. 
Responsibilities:  
  • Along with the centre Supervisor, plan and develop nutritious menus according to Eating Well with Canada’s Food Guide, taking into consideration food requirements and/or restrictions due to special diets, allergies, special occasions, philosophies, religions and/or cultures. 
  • Purchase, prepare, cook, and present all food served in the program, specifically two snacks and a hot meal daily in accordance with attendance. Clean, sanitize and put away all dishes used for morning snack and lunch meal. 
  • Ensures the safe storage and handling of food and equipment and maintains temperature logs and ensures health regulations and sanitary procedures are rigorously adhered to.  
  • To adhere to all JHCCC policies and procedures as set by the Board of Directors.  
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with families, colleagues, school board personnel, and the community  
  • Be organized and pay attention to detail with the ability to set priorities and complete assigned duties with minimal supervision 
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm, flexibility, dedication, and dependability 
Qualifications: 
  • Secondary School Diploma or approved equivalent 
  • Diploma in Nutrition or Food Preparation (preferred) 
  • Valid Standard First Aid & Infant and Child CPR level C certificate 
  • An original Police Vulnerable Sector Check dated within 6 months prior to being hired  
  • Certificates of completion of WHMIS and Health and Safety Training
  • Safe Food Handler’s Certificate
