Length: Contract – Undetermined, covering for Long Term Leave of Absence
Hours of Work: Position works 35 hours per week, between 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Salary: $15.32 – $21.44 per hour
Start Date: January 4, 2017
Description: This position works collaboratively in a team of three preparing meals and snacks for 160 – 186 children on a daily basis as per the Childcare and Early Years Act, 2014 using a five week rotating menu. Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen as per Public Health requirements, laundry tasks, assist in menu planning and the ordering/purchasing of food.
Qualifications: Minimum two years’ experience in a kitchen environment with a sound knowledge of large-quantity meal preparation and purchasing; normally acquired through a post-secondary Cooking course, a Cook II certification course, or directly related experience or on-the-job training. Excellent communication skills including the ability to read, write and interpret instructions essential to producing high quality meals and snacks. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast pace environment both within a team and independently. Must have Safe Food Handlers Certificate. Knowledge of basic nutrition and Canada's Food Guide, and the ability to modify meals for special dietary requirements. Valid certification in standard first aid, including infant and child CPR; and able to provide a Police Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen.
